Spend a 9 days riding the Rocky Mountain Northwest exploring all that Big Sky Country has to offer: beautiful vistas, challenging mountain passes, local breweries, streams, rivers and Montana hospitality. Our 9-day, 490 mile ride from West Yellowstone to West Glacier, Montana will capture your imagination. Ride over the Continental Divide! Fully supported tour with indoor accommodations, meals in local establishments, on-route SAG and we transport your luggage. A very special adventure and a small, intimate group (5 riders).
This is a fully supported tour with indoor hotel accommodations, meals in local establishments, on-route SAG, and luggage transportation. The weather will be warm and the scenery spectacular. We will traverse smooth pavement on local roads in rural Montana. Daily mileages range from 60-90 miles with an average of 71 miles per day. Bike rentals are available. Temperatures will range from the 50s at night to the mid to upper 80s, low 90s during the day, with a high chance of clear sunny skies.
Remember: You are coming to a high elevation area, where you require more water intake than you typically would at lower elevations. We recommend making an effort to drink more water than you usually would, the week before you travel to help prevent dehydration and altitude sickness. If you have health conditions, please consult you doctor before coming.

Two different airports are used for this tour.
Start: Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN) near Belgrade, Montana
End: Glacier International Airport (GPI) near Kalispell, Montana
Van transfer: 2 hours
We will gather together in the mid-afternoon to shuttle from Bozeman to our starting location in West Yellowstone, Montana, the west gate to Yellowstone National Park. Dinner will be followed by an orientation meeting before we tuck-in for the evening.

Today is a free day of cycling on your own in Yellowstone National Park. Ride as much or as little as you like exploring the western edge of the park including the “Old Faithful” geyser. Lunch is on your own today but we will enjoy dinner as we review our day and prepare for our journey the coming days.

Terrain: Paved roads
We will spend the day riding downhill, giving up 1600 ft in elevation as we ride from West Yellowstone (6500 ft) to Ennis (4900 ft). Although generally downhill, we will climb up past Hebgen Lake to the infamous Earthquake Lake, formed in 1959 when a 7.5 earthquake blocked the Madison River to form the lake. We’ll cycle through the Gallatin National Forest before dropping into the Madison valley and will be awed by the mountain ranges on either side as we ride alongside the Madison River. We will finish the day in Ennis, MT well known as the heart of the world’s best fly-fishing country.

We continue riding down the Madison valley today with the Madison mountain range to our east all day. We will climb up to a mountain pass at 5580' but in general will continue with an ever declining elevation profile. We will ride through the towns of historic Virgina City and Nevada City as we make our way north up the valey. Our day ends as we pedal into the town of Whitehall, Montana nestled in the Rocky Mountains of Montana.

Today is a BIG day for us! We will cross the majestic Continental Divide at Pipestone Pass (6382 ft) during the early morning as we make our way into the copper mining boon-town of Butte, Montana. After a winding jaunt along frontage roads we will find ourselves in Anacondia, Montana before we begin the long climb up to Georgetown Lake (6245 ft) in the Anaconda Range (Pintlars), a favorite recreation are for western Montanans. Our efforts will be reward with at 15 mile downhill cruise down the Flint Creek Valley to the quaint town of Phillipsburg, Montana with it’s classic candy store, cafes, and the Phillipsburg Brewery Company.

You’ll encounter the last of the major climbs today as you ride through the town of Drummond, Montana and work your way past huge western ranches, meadows, small towns and perhaps a cattle drive on the way to the town of Ovando, a small western town redefining itself as the mountain bike destination off the Great Divide Mountain Bike route.

There will be lots of eye candy today as we ride into, and down, the Swan Valley with the incredible Mission Mountains on your left and the Bob Marshal Wilderness on your right the ENTIRE day. The valley contains the Seeley, Swan, and Holland lakes. The beautiful winding road has a new awe-inspiring view around every turn. You will not be able to wipe the grin off your face.

Terrain: Paved roads and paved bike path.
Over final day together will bring us to the entrance to perhaps the greatest national park in the lower 48: Glacier National Park. Riding rural Montana roads and a paved bike trail from Corum to the park, we will gather for a group photo at the Glacier National Park entrance and ride back to our overnight accommodations in Hungry Horse.

Our 9-day journey will end today, but not before climbing the iconic Going-to-the-Sun road up to Logan Pass. You will experience spectacular views, McDonald Falls, a possible bear siting, mountain goats, Bighorn Sheep and other fauna and flora as you make the climb in the early AM. After a break at the top of Logan Pass at 6,647' and an iconic photo, you will zoom back down the mountains passing the impressive glaciers, beautiful valleys, cascading waterfalls, towering mountains and colorful wildflowers that you might have missed on the ascent. You will no doubt have a huge smile as you return to Lake McDonald lodge and a celebratory meal together.

After breakfast, we will shuttle you to Glacier International Airport in Kalispell, Montana and bid you farewell after a great week of cycling and sightseeing in the spectacular Rocky Mountain Northwest.
