We will do a cycling tour of Natchez, MS including a tour of an Antebellum home and the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians. We will check into our accommodations. We will visit Emerald Mound, Loess Bluff, Mount Locust, Alcorn State University (first black land grant college in the US), and Windsor Ruins before arriving in Port Gibson, MS. Thos riding the entire Trace will cycle forward to Rocky Springs and transfer back to Port Gibson. Depending on group size, we will stay overnight in a local B\u0026amp;B or shuttle to Vicksburg, MS.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eDay 3: Natchez Trace\/Ridgeland\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMiles: 40-70\u003cbr\u003eTerrain: A few rolling hills\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAfter breakfast, we will tour the Vicksburg battlefield by bike and shuttle back to Port Gibson as needed to continue riding the Trace visiting the Sunken Trace (due to centuries of use), Mangum Mound, and Rocky Springs town site (abandoned). We may optionally include a cycling tour of the Vicksburg Battlefield site (15 mile guided tour by a docent) before we make our way to the Mississippi Craft Center (local artisans) and an overnight in Ridgeland. Depending on the temperature you may see a few alligators as you walk the boardwalk through the swamp. We will continue up the trace with a potential shuttle to Kosciusko Center before we finish riding to French Camp Historic Village and our overnight accommodations. Full Trace Riders will leave from our Ridgeland hotel and ride the entire route to French Camp.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eDay 5: Natchez Trace\/Tupelo\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMiles: 42-84\u003cbr\u003eTerrain: Rolling hills, major road\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAfter breakfast we shuttle to Bynum Mounds(233) and ride through Tombigbee National Forest toward Tupelo. We can stop at the Tupelo National Battlefield if desired, the Parkway Visitor Center and end our ride at the Dogwood Valley (yes, should be in full bloom) before we transfer to the Elvis Presley Birthplace home for a tour before we settle into a hotel in Tupelo. Full route riders will depart French Camp and ride to the Parkway Visitor Center.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eDay 6: Natchez Trace\/Muscle Shoals\/Tuscumbia, AL\/Florence, TN\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMiles: 52-70\u003cbr\u003eTerrain: A few steep climbs followed by rolling hills\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOur longest day of the tour begins after an early breakfast and a shuttle to the Pharr Mounds Exhibit Shelter (MP286). The Pharr Mounds is an archaeological site near Tupelo; a complex of earthwork burial mounds that are dome shaped. We will ride across the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway, the Alabama state line, and the Tennessee River after leaving Colbert Ferry. At the end our ride at MP338 and Tom’s Wall, a memorial to the Trail of Tears. A quick shuttle into Muscle Shoals\/Tuscumbia, AL or Florence, TN will allow us to tour the Helen Keller Birthplace in Tuscumbia, AL or the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio (home to Rock-n-Roll). Full Trace Riders will ride from the Visitors Center to Toms Wall.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eDay 7: Natchez Trace\/Columbia, TN\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMiles: 38-64\u003cbr\u003eTerrain: More rolling hills a few long climbs\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAfter breakfast, we will shuttle to the Trail of Tears Exhibit (MP370) after crossing the Tennessee state line to start our ride for the day visiting Meriwether Lewis (leader of the Lewis \u0026amp; Clark Expedition) State Park and the location where Meriwether Lewis died; mysterious and conflicting stories abound., Devils Backbone State Natural Area, Jackson Falls, and finally the Gordon House Historic Site. Once we gather, we will shuttle to Columbia, TN for our last overnight together and a scrumptious meal. We may move the Helen Keller Birthplace visit to the beginning of this day.
